Turning up the heat at luxury North Yorkshire hotel
Guests are assured of a warm stay at elegant Solberge Hall, an historic country house hotel near Northallerton, North Yorkshire, owned by Classic Lodges.
HCS Mechanical Services refitted a new LPG heating and hot water system in time for a crisp Yorkshire winter.
Before our heating engineers started work, an oil-fired system supplied water and central heating at the handsome Georgian mansion. Poor heat circulation and irregular hot water supplies were hallmarks of the old system. Our brief was to replace with one that would ensure regulated temperatures and constant hot water for the hall’s 24 luxury rooms and suites.
We installed temporary oil storage tanks to ensure the existing heating system functioned efficiently throughout the alterations. As Classic Lodges specified an LPG system, we had several conversations with our design team and manufacturers to find the most suitable equipment. After taking this expert advice we opted to install three Ideal Evomax condensing boilers and two Andrews ECOflo water heaters
The job took four weeks at one of the hotel’s busiest times of year. The challenge was to ensure that guests could remain warm, and enjoy hot showers and baths, while we tackled the refit.
Brian Thornton, Group Property Manager at Classic Lodges, commented: “The installation of the overall heating and hot water system was carried out effectively and efficiently on a crucial hand-over procedure that minimised the impact on our customers to almost zero. HCS carried out effective post installation design that meant that the actual works went through with virtually little, or no effect, on the smooth running of our hotel”.
